The Easy, Smooth Drive of a Volvo Is All In the Front End

There are many good quality cars on the market today and one of the best is Volvo. They have a level of pride in the product they produce and put on the streets around the world. They are not only a high quality product, but they have some of the best engineering that makes them one of the safest cars on the road. Along with that high quality and safe reputation is the handling a Volvo offers.

What makes the handling of a Volvo so good?

The drive shaft would be the start of that great handling. The drive shaft supplies the torque and along with the universal joints, also called U-joints, the great suspension that Volvo is known for happens. The U-Joint in a Volvo is also referred to as the CV joint which is credited with the responsibility of a smooth transition of torque from the power shaft to the drive shaft. What makes Volvo so special is that there is absolutely no variance with the driven shaft whereas rear wheel drive cars will employ the rear axle half shafts.

The Volvo CV joints are greased and have a plastic or rubber boot. There are two types: A ball-type and a tripod-type. The ball-type is commonly used on the drive shaft's exterior and the tripod-type is used on the interior.

Not only does Volvo have special engineering with the front end, but the front end parts are made of the best quality materials possible. Should your Volvo ever need front end work, which is very unlikely, it is recommended to have only a Volvo certified technician do the work and use only Volvo parts.

Concept XC Coupé

Volvo has always been known to make waves in the world of car manufacturing and this past August they did again. Releasing the Concept XC Coupé maybe a third generation of their station wagon, but it is one of its own.

This Concept XC Coupe appears to be all floating from the grill to the seats are taking the utilitarian look of the past and moving forward. With distinctive visual traits like the new T-shaped DRL light guides, this beautifully proportioned vehicle is one to enjoy from afar and up close.

With unique rear light treatments, 5-spoke, 21 inch wheels give this car an aesthetic appeal that reminisces with echoes Volvo's 1970's era 1800 ES. The dash is all new technology though with oversized tablet as the primary function panel in the new 2014 Volvo XC90, a first for Volvo that loses the standard buttons and controls of the past. An aggressive appearance that is poised and proportioned starting with fluid waistline treatments and throughout the narrowing cabin.

The interface of this Volvo is nothing but user friendly for both driver and passengers with a instrument cluster that increases visual recognition. With the orange seat belts, woven wool carpets and full glass roof along with the light colored leather seats and wood inlays, this car has a modern yet retro look about it.

What Makes Volvo The Safest Cars?

Since their beginning in 1958, the Volvo name has been associated with the word Safety”. Starting with their three-point belt that we know as a seat belt to the rear facing first child car seat. There has never been any doubt that that Volvo has always had the safety of those who purchased their cars and rode in theirs first and foremost in mind. In 1998, the head airbag and the whiplash protection system are a Volvo design which was just another indication how serious Volvo is about safety.

Continuing on with that tradition, the Geneva Motor Show would be the place where Volvo introduced their "Active High Beam" technology in 2013. This technology allows drivers of Volvo to drive with high beams that work in conjunction with small cameras in the rear view mirror and facing forward. When oncoming traffic is detected by those tiny cameras, they adjust automatically so the high beam isn't blinding to oncoming traffic. This allows the driver of the Volvo to keep a better vision as well.
